What Lugnut does
Lugnut is a maintenance log for people who look after their own cars, and for people who pay a shop to do it. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Receipt and invoice scanning
Scan with the camera, choose a photo, add a PDF, or drag a file onto the Mac app. Lugnut finds the shop, date, odometer, invoice number, each part and labour line with part numbers, the taxes and the total, and highlights anything it's unsure of for you to check. Fuel receipts are recognized automatically, with litres or gallons, price and grade. More about receipt scanning.
Maintenance reminders
Each reminder can be by distance, by time, or whichever comes first. Lugnut projects the due date from how much you actually drive, and notifies you two weeks before and on the day. You can mark a reminder done or snooze it right from the notification. Logging a service resets every reminder it covers.
Service history
Services are grouped by year, with categories, a do-it-yourself flag, notes, photos and the original receipts. Search finds services, part numbers, notes and the scanned text of every receipt. Work covered by warranty can be logged at the deductible, so your spending totals stay accurate.
Recalls
Lugnut checks Transport Canada's recall database for Canadian vehicles and NHTSA's for U.S. vehicles, by make, model and year. You can mark recalls as done. A dealer can confirm with your VIN whether a listed recall applies to your vehicle.
Fuel, charging and costs
Log fill-ups and EV charging. Fuel economy uses full-to-full fill-ups, in L/100 km, mpg (U.S. or imperial) or km/L. Other costs such as insurance, registration, payments, parking and washes can repeat on their own. Charts show monthly spending by category, cost per kilometre or mile, and all-time totals.
Tire sets
Track summer, winter and all-season sets, including staggered sizes, DOT date codes, where each set is stored, and tread depth at each corner in millimetres or 32nds. Lugnut estimates wear rate and life left, and logs each swap.
Documents and specs
Keep registration, insurance, warranty booklets, manuals and wiring diagrams with the vehicle, with reminders before they expire. The specs card holds the oil specification and capacity, filter and spark plug part numbers, tire sizes, torque values and paint code, and can fill itself in from past receipts.
OBD2 diagnostics (Lugnut Pro)
With a Bluetooth LE OBD-II adapter, Lugnut reads trouble codes, readiness monitors, the 12-volt battery voltage and the odometer, and can check automatically each time the car starts. It can also import reports and logs from other OBD apps. More about OBD2 diagnostics.
Seasonal tire advice (Lugnut Pro)
Lugnut watches the morning temperature forecast for a city you choose, and combines it with your province's or state's tire laws and your insurer's winter tire discount dates, to tell you when it's time to book the swap. See the winter tire laws in Canada.
Warranties (Lugnut Pro)
Factory and extended warranties are tracked by date and distance, whichever ends first, with an alert 60 days before coverage ends.
Export, backup and import
Export CSV files at any time, or back up everything, photos and documents included, to one file. With Lugnut Pro, export a printable service history PDF and import history from Fuelly, Drivvo, Fuelio, Simply Auto, aCar, Road Trip MPG, LubeLogger or a spreadsheet.
